Sir David Chipperfield on the rebuilding of the Royal Academy

Defying the stresses and strains of our times, one of Britain’s most hallowed institutions is celebrating its 250th birthday by more than doubling its space. The Royal Academy has deployed the architect Sir David Chipperfield to do nothing to wreck the old, whilst enhancing public access to an institution that has trained some of the finest artists in the world.
