Slight fall in homeless deaths in England and Wales in 2020

One of the positive consequences of the pandemic was that many rough sleepers were brought in off the streets and offered emergency accommodation.

Today. figures for the number of homeless people who died in England and Wales in 2020 fell slightly – possibly because of this strategy – the first fall since 2013.

But the Office for National Statistics, which released the figures, says it is now more difficult to collect the data on the deaths of the homeless.
