Soaring temperatures across Europe as heatwave continues

If you think it’s been a bit too hot here spare a thought for the rest of Europe where temperatures are soaring to potentially record levels – as high as 48 celsius.
Eight places across Portugal have seen the mercury reach near record highs, peaking at around 47 degrees in one region. Heat warnings have also been put in force for most of Spain – as a band of hot air drifts across the country from Africa.
