Social care system facing collapse in UK say providers

Economics Correspondent

The social care system in England could be facing collapse, according to a group of six large providers.

They’ve told Channel 4 News that the budget increase in national insurance and the Living Wage could leave some companies insolvent.

Data shared exclusively with this programme, shows they need a 9% increase in the fees they receive from councils to avoid becoming loss-making.

And today, two trade bodies, Care England and the Homecare Association, have told the government that the higher national insurance should not apply to them.
