Soledar: Ukraine denies Russian claims it controls key town

Ukraine has denied claims by Russia that its forces are now in control of the bitterly contested town of Soledar – accusing Moscow of “information noise”.

The salt mining town in the eastern Donetsk region has been left largely destroyed by the intense fighting – with one top Ukrainian official comparing it to the devastating First World War battle of Verdun.
