In 1994, Melanie Brown was one of 600 hopeful young women who auditioned to join the Spice Girls – a group that became the world’s most famous young female band of all time.
Since then Mel B – or Scary Spice – has been performing and presenting and has now turned her hand to writing and campaigning, becoming a patron of the Domestic Abuse charity, Women’s Aid.
Her memoir which has just been published is entitled “Brutally Honest” and addresses her ten-year marriage which ended in a bitter divorce last year. Her former husband denies her allegations of abuse and says he’ll be answering them in full. Minnie Stephenson went to meet her.
