Stansted protesters who chained themselves to plane spared jail

Fifteen protesters who chained themselves together around a charter jet which was due to deport 60 people from the UK have been spared jail, as the judge said he was satisfied their intention had been to demonstrate.

Three defendants were given suspended sentences and the other 12 handed community orders after they blocked the deportation flight from taking off at Stansted Airport in March 2017.
