Starmer says Diane Abbott is ‘free to go forward’ as a Labour candidate

Krishnan Guru-Murthy: ‘After days of speculation over her political future – the veteran MP Diane Abbott is ‘free to go forward’ as a Labour candidate in the general election, according to Sir Keir Starmer.

Ms Abbott was given back the Labour whip earlier this week, after the end of an internal inquiry into controversial remarks she had made about racism. In something of an about turn – Sir Keir described her as a ‘trailblazer’ who had forged a path for others to come into public life.’
