It’s 25 years to the day since the teenager Stephen Lawrence was stabbed to death in an unprovoked racist attack in south east London – two of the gang are now serving life in jail for his murder although three other suspects have not been convicted.
People have begun laying flowers and tributes beside a special plaque in Eltham, marking the spot where 18-year-old Stephen was killed. And at a memorial service, his father Neville Lawrence said that forgiving his son’s killers had helped him to move on.
