An economic crisis cooked up here in Downing Street provided Nicola Sturgeon with an ideal backdrop as she set out her economic plan for an independent Scotland.
Unveiling the 108-page document, the first minister said splitting from the UK would bring a “stronger, fairer and more sustainable” economy, but admitted the need for checks on goods at the UK border if Scotland rejoined the EU, and refused to say how long sterling would remain the currency.
