Sudan’s capital in a ‘full-on war’ says Khartoum resident

A week ago Khartoum was still relatively peaceful with the basic functions of a capital city all more or less in working order.

But since fighting between two rival generals and their heavily armed military forces broke out, hundreds have been killed and thousands wounded.

And there is no end in sight to the chaos.

We spoke to Khartoum resident Hamid Khalafallah, who is a researcher and policy analyst working across Africa, and began by asking him to describe what life is like in the city.
