The Supreme Court has ruled that Rwanda is not a safe country to deport asylum seekers – so Rishi Sunak has pledged emergency legislation to declare that it is.
The prime minister said he was already working on a new treaty with Kigali – claiming it would end what he called the “merry go round” of challenges in the courts.
But some right-wing Tories want him to go further – describing the Supreme Court ruling as a “dark day for the British people” and urging Mr Sunak to ignore it.
