Syria: The family followed by bombs

We have an extraordinary story of survival from the village of Maaret Harma, just a few miles from the frontline.

Practically every day now Syrian forces, backed by Russia, push further into rebel held territory.

And with every town or village that falls, it adds to the humanitarian crisis in the last corner of north-west Syria still under the control of opposition fighters.

As we continue our series of special reports on Syria’s Idlib Province, we have an extraordinary story of survival from the village of Maaret Harma, just a few miles from the frontline.

As villagers there live in fear of airstrikes and shelling – we hear how one man and his family appear to have been deliberately tracked and targeted over a terrifying four-hour period.
