Teachers in England announce new strikes as union rejects pay offer

Teachers in England are planning more strike action, after members of the country’s biggest teaching union overwhelmingly rejected the Government’s latest pay offer.

The National Education Union described the proposal as unacceptable and said 98% of members had voted against it.

They’ll now stage two days of walkouts, starting later this month.

The Education Secretary Gillian Keegan said it would simply mean “more disruption for children, and less money for teachers today”.
