Terror plot suspect had star role in school ‘kidnap’ film

A second suspect arrested as part of an investigation into an alleged Islamist terror plot was cast as the main character in a film in which he is kidnapped, Channel 4 News has found. Watch here:

The second suspect has been named in newspapers as Gusai Abuzeid, 21, from Marylebone, London.

Four men were seized on Monday morning by counter terror police and are being questioned on suspicion of being concerned in the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism.

‘Kidnap video’

The video featuring Gusai was made for an A-Level media studies project by his friends and it was filmed at Westminster City School.

In the video Gusai Abuzeid is seen running through the school, before two men are seen to confront and kidnap him, drag him away, put a hood over his head, and commence an interrogation into the location of a ‘file’.

His brother Adai Abuzeid told the Daily Mail: “I looked at Gusai, using my eyes to ask what was going on. He looked baffled – that’s how I know he hasn’t done anything … He’s working hard to make something of his life.

“I can’t believe he’s been arrested, it doesn’t make sense. If anything, he’s not really a Muslim, he doesn’t pray. He’s not political either. Our whole family is against what is going on out there.”

Tarik Hassane

Channel 4 News yesterday established that Tarik Hassane had flown into the UK on Sunday night, and sent a tweet “Oi lads … I smell war” hours before his arrest.

Westminster City School, where the film is said to have been made, is where Tarik Hassane, the alleged ringleader of the group, had studied.

The Metropolitan Police said this morning that Magistrates granted police five more days to question the four men.
