It’s the biggest ever equal pay claim against private companies, and it’s gaining ground all the time. Twenty thousand supermarket workers – mainly women – who work on the shopfloors of Asda and Sainsbury’s, were today joined by workers from Tesco, all arguing that they are being under-paid and under-valued compared to male colleagues working in the warehouses.
This case could have massive implications for the entire retail sector, potentially costing the big supermarkets billions of pounds.
