Texas shooting: Biden faces calls to take action after Uvalde visit

The US Justice Department has said it will investigate the police response to last week’s mass shooting in Texas, after it emerged that officers delayed entering the school for more than 40 minutes.

Yesterday, President Biden and his wife visited a memorial in Uvalde to pay respects to the 19 children and two teachers who died.

With Congress not sitting today because of a national holiday, all eyes are on the week ahead to see whether politicians might finally come together to enact some form of gun control.
