Thames Water: Will government save water company from collapse?

The government says it is working behind the scenes to ensure that Thames Water customers won’t be impacted as rumours circulated today that the company, which is £14bn in debt, is on the verge of going bust.

The company – the UK’s biggest water supplier – is looking to raise cash from investors.

Meanwhile the Chancellor was meeting regulators from various industries – including water – to see what could be done about lowering prices.
