Streaming services have long drawn criticism from musicians complaining about meagre royalties.
Spotify was in the headlines last month after Neil Young removed his music from the platform in protest at what he said was Covid misinformation in Joe Rogan’s popular podcast.
Now, cult indie group The Pocket Gods, have decided to stage their own protest at Spotify’s pay rates by releasing an album containing 1,000 very short tracks.
This is because royalties are only triggered if a song is listened to for more than 30 seconds.
