‘The Father and the Assassin’: Story of Gandhi’s murderer brought to stage

A play about the man who murdered Mahatma Gandhi in 1948 is returning to the London stage – although it’s far more than a mere retelling of history.

‘The Father and the Assassin’ charts the life of Nathuram Godse, who’s become something of a folk hero for Hindu nationalists – with echoes for politics in India today. Krishnan Guru Murthy has been speaking to the two women behind the play.
