The reality of coronavirus intensive care in Wales – and long road to recovery

For the many thousands of people with coronavirus who have ended up in intensive care units, surviving is only the first battle.

Prolonged periods of ventilation and the extreme fatigue caused by Covid-19 are just some of the challenges patients face as they begin to recover.

The bodies representing occupational therapists and physiotherapists have warned of a tidal wave of demand for their services – as people make their way out of hospital and back into the community.
