The residents uniting against ‘forever chemicals’ polluting their town

They’re nicknamed “forever chemicals”. PFAS are a group of industrial compounds that don’t break down in the environment. They’re found in everything from non-stick pans to waterproof clothing and firefighting foams.

One such foam manufacturer, Angus Fire, has a facility in the Yorkshire town of Bentham, believed to be the most known PFAS-polluted place in the UK. Now some local residents are pursuing legal action because of the health risks.

This programme can exclusively reveal that potential action against Angus Fire is being considered by the Environment Agency.

Angus Fire denies ignoring advice and say they always operated within industry standards.
