The Washington family dynasty behind ‘The Piano Lesson’ film

News Correspondent

Actor Denzel Washington has drawn on the work of the iconic black playwright August Wilson for two of his films, turning the plays Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and Fences into award winning movies.

Now he’s turned his hand to a third, The Piano Lesson, which won its author the pulitzer prize for its telling of life in post-slavery America.

This time, the film is a family affair, with Denzel’s oldest son John David playing the lead role, and his youngest son Malcolm directing. Ahead of the film’s release next month, both of the brothers sat down to speak to Symeon Brown.
