Theresa May ‘irritated’ by Tory leadership speculation

Theresa May might be “irritated” by all the speculation over her leadership, but she insisted today she wanted the political debate to focus on the country’s future – rather than her own.

It’s the often personal, often toxic kind of modern politics which has put one possible contender off the top job – Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson.

She’s been praised by mental health campaigners after talking openly about the self harm and depression she suffered as a teenager.
