Theresa May has told MPs to hold their nerve as she said she needed more time to persuade Europe to accept changes to her Brexit deal, with Labour accusing her of offering “more excuses and more delays” as the clock ticked relentlessly down towards Brexit day.

And another crunch day in the Commons is approaching, after Labour MP Yvette Cooper said she’d be tabling a vote on her bill ruling out a no-deal Brexit at the end of this month.
