Third body found by Bradford road

A third body has been found dumped by the road in Bradford, just hundreds of yards away from where two other men were found dead on Tuesday.

Investigators are trying to establish a link between the deaths.

West Yorkshire Police said the third body was discovered by firefighters on Holme Lane early on Thursday morning.

A Police spokesman said it was too early to say whether the deaths were linked.

“The incident is at a very early stage,” he said.

“We’re currently working to establish the circumstances surrounding it.

“We’re examining whether there is any link between the incidents. At this stage we’re unable to establish any connection.”

Police launched a murder investigation on Wednesday after the bodies of two young men were found on New Lane near Tong.

On Wednesday, Detective Superintendent Dick Nuttall said police are “looking at the possibility this is not a random attack.

“These men may have been brought here after an attack elsewhere.”

He said the two men were in their mid-20s to 30s but he refused to speculate on the victims’ ethnic origin until they were formally identified.

Police have appealed for witnesses to come forward with any information.

“This is a rural and quiet area of Bradford and people may have noticed any unusual activity, especially at this time of night.

“At this stage we have not recovered any weapons. However, forensic officers are currently examining the scene.

“The area where the first two bodies were found is open countryside – green meadows with pockets of woodland – just a mile or two from the suburbs of south Bradford,” Mr Nuttall said.

The scene is just a few hundred yards from a rest area near Tong where a man was shot dead in 2002 in a drug-related killing.
