Thousands gather for 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre

Thousands of people have been taking part in a ceremony in Manchester today, marking the 200th anniversary of the Peterloo Massacre – when it’s thought 18 people were killed and hundreds injured as they gathered to demand democratic reform. A tragedy which became the first step towards political democracy and the right to vote.
