Thousands of ethnic Armenians flee as Azerbaijan forces seize control

Thousands of ethnic Armenians have been flooding out of Nagorno Karabakh, fleeing what they fear will come after Azerbaijan’s forces seized control of the territory.

The disputed enclave lies within – and is internationally recognised as part – of Azerbaijan but has been administered by the ethnic Armenian majority there.

Armenian officials have been helping to evacuate displaced people across the border – while western leaders urged Azerbaijan to respect human rights and international law.
