Thousands of Indian children orphaned by Covid in just a few weeks

It’s yet another heartbreaking cost of the pandemic – the devastating second wave of Covid which swept through India this spring left thousands of children orphaned in just a few weeks.

Charities and NGOs fear that those who’ve been left alone without parents – especially from the poorest families – will now be vulnerable to trafficking and exploitation.

And they’re rushing to save India’s Covid orphans from slavery and sex work.
