The photographs of her 3-year-old nephew – his body washed up on a Turkish beach – became a symbol of the plight of Syrian refugees around the world. This week though, Kurdish activist Tima Kurdi was sitting in the US Capitol to hear Donald Trump’s speech to Congress – and to urge the administration to make good on its campaign pledge – to stop funding Syrian rebels.
