‘Too much in a small place,’ – Welsh village responds after bid to stop arrival of 300 asylum seekers rejected by High Court

A High Court judge in London has rejected an eleventh-hour effort by a county council in Wales to prevent the arrival of potentially up to 300 asylum seekers.

Carmarthenshire County Council accused the Stradey Park Hotel in Llanelli of breaching planning laws – at the cost of around 90 jobs.

But today’s ruling means that from Monday, asylum seekers could start to arrive there.
