To Cuba now, where the funeral cortege carrying the ashes of the island’s former president, Fidel Castro, has set off on a four-day journey from Havana to the south-eastern city of Santiago, where he proclaimed the success of his revolution in 1959 and where his funeral will take place on Sunday.

Thousands of Cubans are gathering in central Havana for a two-day ceremony to commemorate Fidel Castro before his remains are carried across the country to Santiago, where the revolution was born.
