London riots

People in Tottenham have gathered for a multi-faith show of solidarity after the weekend riots. Channel 4 News talks to locals who say they are “frustrated, upset, and demanding answers”.

Tottenham’s MP lead widespread condemnation of the rioters, while the police – criticised too for their response – work to restore calm to the trashed London High Street.

Tottenham in north London is described as a “war” zone after overnight riots triggered by the shooting of a local man by police. One rioter tells Channel 4 News “this has been coming” for some time.

Tottenham MP David Lammy says it is “important our community remains calm” after a man was shot dead during an operation by police. A friend of Mark Duggan told Channel 4 News there may be unrest.
