Spring weather has arrived, but is it here to stay?

Earlier this week, I explained that warmer air is finally going to be arriving on our shores, thanks to the jet stream moving northwards – back to where it should be at this time of year.
Following a long winter that never seemed to want to end, finally, this weekend will see a change in our weather fortunes. Some places could reach 21C in the sunshine.
Following my blog a few days ago about spring finally springing towards mid-month, I thought that I’d give you a quick update on what’s to come over the next ten days.
With Easter weekend almost here, there’s no doubt that lots of us will be travelling over the next few days. Thankfully, whilst the weather is going to stay cold, disruption due to snow is unlikely.
A taste of spring for most places this week, but don’t be fooled, winter is lurking and is likely to be back with us beyond next weekend.
During the last week, I’ve had lots of people saying that they’ve had enough of the cold and would happily welcome something spring-like with open arms. So, are there any signs of this happening?
So will the fine weather continue this weekend? Will we get the chance to dust off the barbecue? In a nutshell – yes, but as always, some places will fare better than others.
Whilst September is a month during which we see the transition to autumn, there’s still the potential to have weather more akin to summer.
On Saturday the temperature reached a sizzling 32.4C at Cavendish in Suffolk, making it the hottest day of 2012 so far.
The weather looks pretty mixed for the first part of this week, but from midweek onwards high pressure will build, bringing most of us a spell of sunnier and warmer weather.
Just over a week ago most of us enjoyed a spell of settled and warmer weather as an area of high pressure built over the UK. The hottest day of the year so far was recorded, reaching 30.7C.

Over a week ago I broke the news that the jet stream was finally going to head northwards having been stuck south of the UK for months bringing record-breaking rainfall.
With just days to go until the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics, there’s no doubt that all eyes will be on the skies to see what the weather will bring.
