Torrential rain causes chaos with emergency services called to 1,200 incidents in Spain

Roads, railways and subway lines across the Spanish capital Madrid have been shut down, and residents urged to stay at home – after torrential rain caused widespread flooding.

Police and firefighters were called to around 1,200 incidents in central Spain, while rescuers are searching for a missing father whose vehicle got caught up in an avalanche of mud and other debris.
