Tory councillor’s wife jailed for 31 months for inciting racial hatred

The wife of a Conservative councillor has been jailed for 31 months for inciting racial hatred on social media on the day of the Southport knife attacks.

Lucy Connolly – a 41-year-old childminder – posted tweets saying “mass deportation now” and suggesting that hotels housing migrants should be burned down.
