Tory donor’s alleged comments about Diane Abbott MP were ‘racist and wrong’, says Downing St

It is frightening, Britain’s first Black female MP Diane Abbott says, following remarks reportedly made by Tory Donor Frank Hester.

Mr Hester has not denied making the comments and says – although he accepts his so-called “criticism” was rude – it was “not motivated by gender or skin colour.”

Opposition parties say the remarks were racist and that the Conservatives should return the £10 million Mr Hester and his company have donated over the last year.
