Tory MPs call for support for firms hit by soaring energy costs

Conservative MPs have joined calls for more support for the industries worst hit by soaring energy costs, amid warnings that there could be even more disruption to supply chains into the winter as businesses struggle to cope with unprecedented challenges.

And the government is reportedly considering a new levy on gas which could push up household bills by £170 a year.
