‘Toxic’ Metropolitan police put into special measures

The Metropolitan Police has been placed in ‘special measures’ by the police watchdog after a series of scandals, from the way it handled the Sarah Everard murder case, to offensive messages and photos shared by officers and the failure to properly investigate the serial killer Stephen Port.

The force will now be placed under “additional scrutiny and support” to help it make improvements.
