Tracking the hostages taken from Israel by Hamas

More than 200 people were taken by Hamas, proscribed as a terrorist group by the UK, on October 7 – part of the deadliest attack in Israel’s history.

By verifying footage shared on social media, analysing satellite images and discovering clues in the videos themselves, we’ve tried to piece together the movements of some of those taken and pinpoint their last known locations.

We look at the role of the Hamas tunnels and how the hostages could shape the course of this war.
