Trans women with history of violence against women excluded from Scotland’s female prisons

Scotland Correspondent

Transgender women with a history of violence against women and girls will only be sent to female prisons if it’s deemed they don’t present an “unacceptable risk of harm”, under new rules announced by the Scottish Prison Service.

The new policy follows an outcry earlier this year over the decision to place convicted rapist Isla Bryson in a women-only jail.
