The protests continue. The latest, in Portland, Oregon, turned violent, with police declaring a riot and making 26 arrests after shops and cars were attacked and rubbish set on fire. Donald Trump, after initially accusing the media of inciting “professional protesters”, later tweeted to praise the passion of the demonstrators for their country.
