Saturday’s shooting may have thrown the political establishment into disarray, but one thing has stayed exactly the same – there is no question that Donald Trump is the king of the Republican party.

Many here see his survival at the weekend as an act of God. And today there was one more piece of divine intervention – his trial for retaining classified documents from his time in the White House was thrown out by a Florida judge. One less barrier to becoming President again.
