“I’m the only one that matters.” When asked about the long list of unfilled positions at his State Department, that was Donald Trump’s blunt reply. But the combination of leaving so many high-level positions empty, and tweeting his foreign policy whims, not to mention insults against his own Secretary of State, have many concerned about the President’s understanding of diplomacy – particularly as he traverses Asia to tackle the North Korean nuclear crisis. Right now, he’s in Seoul, where he’s shifted away from his usual “rocket man” aggression, and signalled a willingness to “strike a deal”.
