Turkey’s Erdogan calls Khashoggi death ‘savage murder’

International Editor

Turkey’s President Tayyip Erdogan has poured scorn on Saudi Arabia’s attempt to explain the murder of the journalist Jamal Khashoggi as a “rogue operation”, describing it as “a savage killing”.

Mr Erdogan demanded the Saudis suspected of involvement should face justice in Turkey, although he stopped short of mentioning Crown Prince bin Salman directly.

All this happened as an investment conference got under way in Riyadh, boycotted by many high-profile politicians and business leaders.
