Going nowhere fast. At least that’s according to the European Council President Donald Tusk, who’s vented his bitter fury with Brexiteers, declaring that those who “promoted Brexit” without a plan of “how to carry it out safely” deserved a “special place in hell”.
His anger was triggered by the continuing impasse over the Northern Ireland backstop.
Theresa May spent the day in Belfast discussing precisely that with Northern Irish political leaders, although the Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar is under pressure to find a solution too.
