Tyre Nichols: Five ex-officers plead not guilty over death

In the US, five former Memphis police officers have pleaded not guilty to the murder of Tyre Nichols, in their first court appearance.

Video footage of the officers beating and kicking Mr Nichols following a traffic stop last month shocked America, sparking renewed protests over police brutality.

The men – who are facing a string of additional charges – were fired after an investigation by the Memphis Police Department last month.
