UK coronavirus cases rise as Scottish medical officer admits breaching guidelines to visit second home

Amid a surge in the number of new coronavirus cases in the UK over the last 24 hours – the government has been stressing the urgent need for everyone to keep to social distancing rules.

But in Scotland police gave the nation’s chief medical officer an official warning, after she admitted travelling to her second home twice, ignoring the rules she was calling on the public to abide by.
