UK inequalities exposed by Covid death toll, says report

The Covid-19 pandemic has laid bare the inequalities in our society, and multiplied the suffering of some of our most deprived communities.

That is the conclusion of a landmark report on health inequality led by Professor Sir Michael Marmot.

He says social deprivation must be addressed in the wake of the pandemic, or many children’s lives will be permanently blighted.
