UK inflation hits 45-year high – as cost of living soars

The cost of basic food items from eggs to milk and cheese is soaring and, on top of rapidly rising energy bills, it’s sent the UK’s annual inflation rate above 11%.

According to the Office of National Statistics, households are paying 90% more for domestic fuels like gas and electricity than they were a year ago.

While food price inflation has shot up to a forty five year high.
